Qu'est-ce qu'un ISBN ? L'ISBN (International Standard Book Numbers) est un code à 10 ou 13 chiffres permettant d'identifier les éditions spécifiques d'un livre. Ce code comprend parfois des trais d'union. Exemples: 0321543254, 0-321-54325-4, 9780321543257

Où puis-je trouver le code ISBN d'un livre ? Le code ISBN se trouve généralement au dos de la couverture du livre, près du code barre, ou sur la page des droits d'auteurs.

Qu'est-ce que l'ISBN identifie ? Chaque édition d'un livre possède son propre ISBN. Par exemple, chacune des ces éditions est considérée comme différente, même si le contenu reste identique : livre relié, livre broché, gros caractères, livre électronique etc.

Pourquoi utiliser l'ISBN ? Si un professeur recommande à ses étudiants d'utiliser une édition spécifique d'un livre, il est préférable de chercher par ISBN. Si l'édition n'est pas important, il est préférable de chercher par titre et par auteur, afin de voir les prix pour toutes les éditions.
